Prof. U Tin Maung Han

Retired Rector

Prof. Dr. Tin Maung Han, son of U Phoe Han and Daw Khin Than, was born in Ye Nan Chaung. on 25th June 1955. He is the fifth son of his family. His Nationality  is Myanmar and he is Buddhist.  He attended B.E.H.S (1) Dagon in Yangon, and then passed Matriculation Examination in 1973.  He was admitted to attend University of Medicine (1)  Yangon in 1973 and graduated M.B.,B.S degree in1981.  He served  as a house surgeon in  Yangon General Hospital, Central Women’s Hospital and Children’s Hospital in Yangon.  He searved as a medical officer in the Army from 1985 to1988. He got married to Daw Nwe Ni Khin  in December 1985  and has two daughters.
He started his service in Mandalay General Hospital as an AS in November 1988 and was permitted to attend M.Med.Sc (Medicine) in University of Medicine, Mandalay in 1990. He got M. Med.Sc degree in 1992 and learned Medicine in UK from 1994 to 1996. He got MRCP (UK) in June 1995.  In 1998 he was promoted as a Junior Consultant Physician and Senior Consultant Physician in Sat San Tun Hospital,Taunggyi and got FRCP (Edin) in 2003.
In 2004 he was promoted and transferred to University of Medicine, Mandalay and served there as an associate professor and professor of the Department of Medicine.

In January 2013 he was promoted as a Pro-Rector and in April he became the Rector of the University of Medicine, Mandalay.  He got retired in June 2015 and has been serving as a Professor Emiratus in University of Medicine, Mandalay.
